Researching family history can be a bit of a challenging puzzle. With such a common name as Campbell, the puzzle can often lead to false information and many dead ends.

After much research, here is my Campbell line showing the move the family made from Fife to Ayrshire.

4x great grandparents: John Campbell, born 14 July 1766, & Margaret Hill, born 15 June 1758, married on 20 November 1789 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.

3x great grandparents: John Campbell, born 27 March 1800, died 2 April 1856 & Margaret Hill, born 19 July 1802 & died 19 June 1885. They were married on 13 May 1820 in  Park Neuck, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. They had six children: Catherine (1821), George (1824), Jean (1826), John (1827), Elizabeth (1828), Sarah (1830). Andrew died in 1831. He was a collier and died of ‘decline’.

2x great grandparents: John Archibald Campbell, born 9 May 1827 & died 2 March 1907, & Margaret Blair, born 11 January 1832 & died 13 February 1907. They married on 17 July 1847 in Dunfermline, Fief, Scotland. They had 12 children.

Grandparents: Matthew Campbell, born 1904, died 1982 and Elizabeth Gibson, born 1904, died 1995. They were married in The Manse, Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 1 August 1930. They had 2 children.
